Discover Thailand’s Cultural Heritage Off the Beaten Path
Discover Thailand’s Cultural Heritage Off the Beaten Path
The smart audio-guide app designed for Thai culture enthusiasts
  • Discover Thailand's cultural heritage off the beaten path with a smart audio-guide app.

Siamnity is the first audio-guide application enabling culture enthusiasts to explore Thailand’s heritage independently and at their own pace.

We are about to launch Siamnity, the audio-guide application dedicated to exploring Thailand’s cultural heritage.

Siamnity is the first intelligent audio-guide application enabling anyone wishing to discover Thai culture to explore the heritage of Siam independently and at their own pace. Following the success of our October 2025 crowdfunding campaign, we have now launched the development of the prototype (MVP), which will be tested in January 2026. Click here to join the beta-tester panel.

Are you eager to discover Thailand’s cultural heritage off the beaten path?

Siamnity offers a unique catalogue of immersive experiences, carefully designed to explore the cultural heritage of Siam: off-the-beaten-path itineraries, games in museums and at historical sites, themed audio-guided tours, creative workshops, discovery of traditional sports, festivals and initiation rituals, culinary explorations, immersion in local life, night-time wanderings, and many more activities.

Siamnity is an invitation to experience Thai culture differently.

Exploratory by essence and immersive by nature, the application offers each user a discreet, intelligent, and knowledgeable companion: a personal audio guide that whispers the story of Siam into one’s ear and accompanies every step in the discovery of Thailand’s cultural heritage and hidden treasures.

Our experiences are designed as gateways into the soul of the country. They invite users to leave conventional routes behind and rediscover the poetry of forgotten places, the echoes of vanished kingdoms, and the lives of communities who continue to uphold ancestral gestures, skills, and traditions. At any moment, users may also choose to be accompanied by a Siamnity expert guide — a true storyteller and guardian of heritage.

Siamnity’s horizon will gradually expand to embrace the kingdom’s great historical capitals — Bangkok, Thonburi, Rattanakosin, Ayutthaya, Sukhothai — before reaching the North, Isaan, and the secret shores of the Southwest, where landscapes untouched by mass tourism still endure.

More than a simple application, Siamnity carries a conviction: to reduce certain inequalities through culture, to encourage exploration, to nurture critical thinking, and to shine a light once again on a tangible and intangible heritage that helps us understand both the present and the future.

Message from Eric Monteil | Founder of Siamnity

I became a French global citizen by opportunity after a seven-month motorbike journey across Southeast Asia in 2010. Since settling in Bangkok in 2011, I have opened a contemporary art gallery, followed by an interior design agency, before launching Rock/Around/Bangkok in May 2024 — and soon, Siamnity.

The idea behind Rock/Around/Bangkok emerged from a challenge in Thailand’s high-end tourism landscape. For culturally discerning Western travellers, exploring Bangkok’s heritage off the beaten track often proves difficult, leading to frustration. Local guides typically follow standard tourist circuits — temples, floating markets, the Grand Palace, and food tours — while their foreign-language skills and general knowledge rarely meet Western expectations. Art-related tours are almost non-existent, limiting deeper engagement with Bangkok’s creative scene. Western travellers also value storytelling, context, and conversation over rote facts, and increasingly seek immersive urban experiences rather than minivan tours detached from local life.

Rock/Around/Bangkok bridges these gaps through carefully curated, themed experiences that reveal the city’s hidden cultural heritage beyond conventional routes. To offer travellers even greater autonomy — while maintaining the same level of cultural depth and quality — I conceived Siamnity, a mobile application delivering our immersive experiences digitally and expanding the concept across Thailand.

Siamnity represents the natural evolution of this vision: the transformation from a cultural agency into Culture-Tech startup, dedicated to creating and distributing immersive cultural experiences through a digital platform.

The following presentation outlines Siamnity’s concept, objectives, strategy, and forthcoming operations, while highlighting the achievements of Rock/Around/Bangkok as its proof of concept in Bangkok.

My aim is to persuade you to become an early partner-investor in Siamnity during the upcoming fundraising round, ahead of the company’s incorporation in early 2026. Interested in learning more? Email me at siamnityapp@gmail.com to receive the investor pitch.

Get ready — Siamnity launches early 2026!

We plan to launch the first version of the Siamnity Audio Guide App in early 2026, most likely in February. If you’re interested in testing the beta version during your stay in Bangkok between December 2025 and January 2026, please send us a message at siamnityapp@gmail.com to receive your access credentials. Alternatively, stay tuned here for more exciting news coming soon!

Decoding a cultural heritage deeply rooted in Theravāda Buddhism and traditional values.

The foundation of Thai culture lies in the adoption and practice of Theravāda Buddhism — the strictest form of Buddhism (that of the elders), which rejects apocryphal texts. Thais are also universally animists (belief in spirits) and polytheists, ever since the adoption of the Rāmāyaṇa, an Indian mythological epic that spread across Southeast Asia as far as Indonesia, becoming the Rāmakien in Thailand during the Ayutthaya period. Finally, since the establishment of the first Sukhothai kingdom in the 13th century, the Kingdom of Siam developed under an absolute monarchy until 1932, when a coup d’état transformed it into a constitutional monarchy — still in place today. Criticising the monarchy is subject to severe penalties, due to the strict enforcement of lèse-majesté laws — among the harshest in the world.

It can be said that Thailand’s cultural heritage comprises both tangible and intangible treasures, shaped by a glorious yet tumultuous history that began in the early 13th century.

Considering numerous "mental filters" such as religions, belief systems (mythology, animism, etc.), public taboos (cultural, political, societal, etc.), and ideologies, anyone arriving in Thailand will need to undertake a significant personal effort to understand these cultural mechanisms. Cultures rooted in what is left unsaid and structured around mental filters are difficult to decode. Hence the need to understand how these filters function in order to achieve successful cultural connection.

Siamnity App

Exploratory, playful, and educational by nature, Siamnity is an innovative way to discover Thailand: a personal audio guide, discreetly assisted by artificial intelligence, that accompanies each user as they explore the cultural heritage of Siam.

The immersive experiences available through the app invite users to venture off the beaten track to discover Thailand’s soul—its communities, history, culture—in short, its tangible and intangible heritage. For every experience, users may also opt for accompaniment by a Siamnity expert guide.

Geographical coverage will include the four successive capitals with a major focus on Bangkok (Sukhothai, Ayutthaya, Thonburi, and Rattanakosin), as well as the North (former Lanna), Isaan (North-East), and the south-western coast.

Siamnity brings Rock/Around/Bangkok’s added value to a wider audience without compromising on the quality of itineraries and experiences: only the delivery mode differs (guide versus audio guide).

The application also helps reduce social inequalities in Thailand by encouraging learning through culture, developing critical thinking through exploration, and elevating the past to better understand the future.

Culture-Tech Industry

Culture-Tech refers to the emerging industry segment at the intersection of cultural heritage, immersive technology, and sustainable tourism. It leverages digital tools, gamification, curated experiences, and storytelling innovation to preserve, showcase, and revitalise intangible and tangible traditions. In the context of Thailand, Culture-Tech is exemplified by companies like Siamnity, which design and deliver cultural private themed excursions and gamified activities for discerning individuals and businesses. Their mission is to bridge the past and the present, using technology and creative formats to reveal the soul of the Kingdom of Siam—while contributing to the sustainable promotion of Thailand’s artistic legacy, historic depth, and local communities.

Cultural immersive experiences already available

The experiences listed below have been available as private guided tours since early 2024, designed specifically for this purpose by Rock/Around/Bangkok. When Siamnity goes live in Q1 2026, all these experiences will be accessible through the application. For those who still prefer a private guided experience, this option will remain available and can be enabled directly on the experience thumbnails as a premium service.

For Individuals

We specialise designing and delivering memorable, immersive cultural experiences off the beaten path—ranging from bespoke and themed private guided tours to gamified activities in museums and at historical sites in Bangkok, and the sale of traditional Thai fine art and crafts.

Each experience is carefully curated to immerse you in Bangkok’s rich cultural heritage — from historic fortifications and royal temples to vibrant street art, creative districts, and secret canals. A deeply immersive journey through 400 years of glory—off the beaten path and full of timeless wonder, such as the Ramakien Epic.

For Corporates

We specialise in newcomers’ cultural integration and team-bonding activities. Cultural integration in Thailand requires navigating cultural “filters” shaped by Theravāda Buddhism, animism, polytheism, mythology, monarchy, codes, morality, etc. Unlike Western societies built on open dialogue, critical thinking, and direct communication, Thai culture is subtle, indirect, and deeply rooted in tradition and history. Outsiders must adapt to this context, as locals are not expected to adopt foreign ways. Understanding these mechanisms is key to bridging the gap and connecting meaningfully with a refined and respectful society.

Immersive Bangkok 360

Three-day, self-guided themed cultural integration programme designed for interns, employees, or business professionals. It offers an intensive introduction to Bangkok’s cultural heritage, focusing on three key themes: Art & Design, History, and Urban Sustainability—all viewed through the lens of the monarchy’s influence in shaping the capital.

Gamified activities in Bangkok’s museums and at historical sites

Designed to turn cultural discovery into engaging and memorable experiences. Blending play with learning, our activities invite participants to solve puzzles, follow clues, and connect with Thai art, history, and heritage in a dynamic way.

Designed for companies, schools, and curious travellers, these experiences encourage teamwork, curiosity, and critical thinking while making culture accessible and enjoyable. I believe that exploring Bangkok’s cultural heritage with us becomes interactive, meaningful, and fun.

Targeted markets

Siamnity is designed to address several complementary markets, each representing a significant opportunity for growth and impact at both national and international levels. By combining cultural heritage, technology, education, and experiential travel, the platform positions itself at the crossroads of tourism, learning, and cultural innovation.

Independent Travellers

Our primary market is composed of travellers—predominantly from Western countries—who seek authentic, meaningful, and educational experiences beyond conventional tourist circuits. These travellers, often aged between 30 and 65, are culturally curious, digitally literate, and willing to invest in deeper understanding of local heritage. Siamnity offers them a self-guided, AI-assisted exploration tool that transforms their journeys into immersive cultural adventures across Thailand’s four historical capitals and regions.

Expatriates & Long-Term Residents

A rapidly growing segment of our audience consists of expatriates and foreign professionals living in Bangkok and other major Thai cities. This group has a strong interest in cultural integration but often lacks structured pathways to understand the deeper layers of Thai society. Siamnity responds to this need with self-guided cultural immersion programmes, museum-based games, and thematic experiences that help expats connect with their adopted home on a more profound level.

Corporate Clients & International Organisations

Global companies operating in Thailand face recurring challenges with cultural adaptation among their foreign employees. Siamnity’s corporate-oriented programmes—such as Immersive Bangkok 360—are designed to accelerate integration, enhance intercultural communication, and strengthen team cohesion. These experiences are particularly valuable for onboarding new employees, hosting executive delegations, and organising team-building events rooted in cultural discovery.

Educational Institutions & Cultural Organisations

Universities, language schools, and cultural institutions represent another strategic market. Siamnity provides them with innovative tools to enrich their curricula and cultural programmes—offering students and participants an engaging, exploratory approach to Thai history, art, and traditions. Partnerships with Thai and international institutions will also support our broader mission of promoting cultural literacy and critical thinking through exploration.

Travel Agencies & Destination Management Companies

High-end travel agencies and DMCs (Destination Management Companies) seeking to differentiate their offerings are key B2B partners. Siamnity complements their services by providing unique, off-the-beaten-path experiences and digital tools that elevate traditional travel itineraries. These collaborations expand Siamnity’s reach to premium travellers and curated group tours, positioning the app as an indispensable asset for experiential tourism in Thailand.

Eric Monteil | Founder Chief Experience Officer

Eric Monteil is the Founder & CEO of Siamnity and its Chief Experience Officer, leading a mission to make Thailand’s cultural heritage accessible, meaningful, and lasting.

Siamnity is the first audio-guide application enabling culture enthusiasts to explore the former Kingdom of Siam independently and at their own pace. Beyond technology, Eric’s vision is to build a living bridge between individuals and businesses and Thailand’s history, traditions, and communities—so that heritage is not only visited, but understood and passed on to future generations.

Background

Eric's path to Bangkok began with a seven-month, 22,000-kilometre motorcycle journey across Southeast Asia in 2010, covering Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Indonesia, and Burma. The ride reshaped his life and career when, in 2011, he relocated from Paris to Bangkok and immersed himself in the world of arts and crafts.

He launched Rock Around Asia Art Gallery (2012) at Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel, then founded Art Consulting Asia (2017), a full-service studio for interior decoration and home staging focused on art, design, and aesthetics. In May 2024 he launched Rock/Around/Bangkok, an innovative cultural agency delivering immersive, off-the-beaten-path experiences—private guided tours, museum games, and site-specific activities—connecting individuals and businesses with Bangkok’s cultural heritage and laying the groundwork for Siamnity.

Over 14 years, Eric has mapped Bangkok with uncommon depth. Cycling, biking, walking, and riding tuk-tuks, he has explored hundreds of venues: art galleries and cafés, street-art corridors, cultural institutions, museums, historic districts, parks, floating and night markets, religious sites, narrow alleys, basements, slums, abandoned buildings, rooftops, themed bars, food stalls, restaurants, design-forward department stores, and the city’s web of canals. His curiosity extends to the military heritage—forts, moats, and defensive walls—and to the Chao Phraya River, from Bang Krachao in Samut Prakan up to Pak Kret. A cultural and art consultant, lecturer, and true local insider, he has become an adopted Bangkokian, crafting a personal narrative that spans three centuries of history.

Eric studied physics and chemistry in Paris and holds an Executive MBA. He began his career at L’Oréal, then moved into leisure aviation before transitioning to the IT and software industry. In 2006, he co-founded GutemberPresse, which was acquired by the Canadian firm CEDEROM SNI (now Cision) in early 2010. A passionate motorcyclist, he is also a certified instructor in hang gliding, paragliding, ultralight aircraft, and paramotoring.
